Brief synopsis of Professor Layton And The Curious Village

Put your puzzle-solving prowess to the test and play detective in an adventure where only successfully solving brainteasers will enable you to crack the case! Professor Layton and the Curious Village for Nintendo DS features more than 135 puzzles that are sure to tax even the most ardent fan of cryptic challenges.

As the famous Professor Hershel Layton, you've been tasked with solving a mystery that has long plagued the good people of St. Mystere. At the request of the noble Lady Dahlia, you arrive in the village to investigate the details of a mysterious will and quickly discover the locals all share one obsession - puzzles.

From classic conundrums to mathematical riddles, everyone you meet in St. Mystere is itching to set you a brainteaser that you'll have to solve on the DS Touch Screen. One minute you might be trying to figure out how to transport chicks and wolves together across a river on a raft, the next you could be attempting to arrange matchsticks so that you create an image by moving two matches. A gradually increasing difficulty level means everyone can ease their way into the challenges before the really bewildering puzzles begin.

Rated - 4 starsDs Game

This game was extremely good in my books but there were flaws. The game puzzle vary from very easy to very difficult. But even with very difficult ones the hints are not usually that helpful. For example one puzzle shows you matches, in the shape of a dog, and you must show what it would look like after the dog was hit by a car (dunno why?). This puzzle may be very easy to some or very difficult to others. Solving the puzzle relies on your perception of the puzzle not maths as some puzzle may seem. Until the end puzzles in the tower, they require a bit more thinking.

But overall i would suggest the game to most people as it is addictive and interesting. But i would not suggest someone to rent this game if they are ether not good at puzzles or are not willing to spend anything from 10 seconds to 30 minutes on a puzzle.

The graphics are surprisingly good for a DS game and there is a moderately strong storyline so i would rate this game -

9/10

This is one of the best games I've played for a long time, you really have to think outside of the box with some of the puzzles!! the only downside to it I think is the fact that you cant skip some of the scenes played before you go onto the next chapter, although the quality of graphics in these scenes are AWESOME! While on the subject of graphics... dontcha think nintendo ought to branch out and release mini-films/cartoons on ds cartridges?! Play this game, get happily frustrated over the puzzles you cant complete, jump for joy over the ones you can and plead DESPERATELY for nintendo to bring out another professor layton puzzle game! :D

Rated - 4 starsGood game!!!

I presume, because all i've gotten out of my girlfriend when playing was:

'I love this game!'

'This game is so good'

'i'm really enjoying this!'

'Make me tea!'

She only got badly stuck on one puzzle, and I must admit it had me stumped too, but only because she thought that she had already tried the number the answer needed.
