Brief synopsis of Killzone 2

Two years after the Helghast assault on Vekta, the ISA are taking the fight to Helghan. Their goal: to capture the Helghast leader, Emperor Visari, and bring the Helghast war machine to a halt. You assume the role of Sev, a battle-hardened veteran and a member of the special forces unit known as the Legion.

For Sev and his squad, the invasion of Helghan is just beginning. Tasked with securing Pyrrhus, the Capital City, they quickly discover that the Helghast are a formidable enemy on their home planet. Not only have they adjusted to the planet's hostile conditions, they have also harnessed a source of power they can now use against the ISA.

Sev and his squad aren't just fighting the enemy forces - their fiercest opponent is the planet itself. Welcome to Helghan, soldier! Rated - 5 starsbest game ever!!!

it may be difficult at the start, the controls do feel different, stick with it and it really pays off. before long the controls feel normal.

campaign

very fun to play. the perfect ai add to the expereance. just by watching one die, you can tell this game is special. the way their body reacts to every bullet watching them fall on their knees and then on their face is outstanding. if you trough a grenaid you see their priority's change. they run jump and dive to escape the explosion. so although they are laying on the floor be cairfull they may stand up and shoot.

graphics

are the best i have ever seen the lighting is phenomenal. some problems but they are miner

multilayer

extreamly fun. in my opinion beter than cod. full clan support rankings, tournaments some free some you have to pay for with in game curencey. killzone.com shows stats of the match and a birds eye replay of every multilayer match. maps are well layed out and fun on each game mode.

Rated - 3 starsDisappointing

DOPIN from London , 02/03/2009

Graphics are amazing, scenery is amazing and you can tell a lot of time has been spent on this game yet one thing has completly ruined this game, the controles!

At first i thought it was just me and i would get used to them but looking at forums across the net it seems to be a problem for a lot of people. The controles themselves are fine but there is lag in terms of movement and this can be frustrating when trying to shoot, especially online!

It has stoped me from enjoying the game quite substantially and has frustrated me why such an obviouse prioblem was not looked at and fixed before the realease of the game!

Killzone2 is an amazing game i have played the single player demo and it blew me away it has probably the best looking game on ps3, and in terms of graphics even rivals metal gear solid 4 guns of the patriots. The gameplay is awesome to with a new lean and peak cover system get this game.

Rated - 4 starsBrilliant with one major flaw...

ElaineW from Ruislip , 16/03/2009

This is an excellent game thats worth a buy if you have your PS3 hooked up to the internet. The singleplayer lasts about 8 hours, but the graphics are fantastic and the environments are extremely detailed. There is a reasonable variety of weapons and enemies, altogether a very solid package. The online is where it shines though and will keep you hooked for hours. There is one major flaw though and that is the aiming. Its nearly impossible to actually get your crosshairs over someone and this can be infuriating especially online when your right infront of someone and can't hit them. Other than this excellent game. Worth buying or renting.

Rated - 4 starsKillzone 2 (sorry its so long could just skip to conclusion if short on time)

chris5toph from Solihull , 16/05/2009

Having heard big things about the game with forums before release clogged with phrases like ‘Halo killer’ and king of fps’ I was excited to get my hands on the game to see what all the hype was about. I started the campaign and was treated to a mostly interactive cut scene where you are led to prepare for battle. I didn’t play killzone1 so I was a bit confused as to what was going on at first but it didn’t take long to catch on. You are thrust almost straight into battle with the usual prompts teaching you the basic controls. I should probably mention the graphics at this point. Killzone has been hailed as evidence of the PS3s capability and the graphics are impressive. Character models look good and backgrounds vivid, I was slightly disappointed at all the brown but I did expect this going in. Due to all the buzz about the graphics I think I was expecting them to be something truly amazing but although they are good I’m not sure they are quite as good as people make them out to be and after a few hours of similar environments I did start to get a bit bored of the same sight.

Anyway the controls seem quite heavy when you first get hold of them especially if you’ve been playing left 4 dead or COD but this becomes unnoticeable after a while and cause no problems. There is a good range of weapons although not being able to carry 2 primary weapons can be a bit annoying, however always having a pistol with unlimited ammo is a bonus in my eyes. The pistols are also pretty good weapons to be fair so you can easily take down a few enemies if you are out of ammo in you primary. I felt the integration of the sixaxis motion is disappointing and found having to rotate the controller to open doors or plant charges a bit gimmicky especially when under fire, however balancing it to steady the sniper is quite a nice touch as I prefer to feel I have some control over the. Overall it can be concluded that it is an extremely solid shooter.

Unfortunately the story is not so solid. I found it a bit dull really and stopped paying attention after a while and just followed orders without any real idea what they were contributing towards the plot. However it didn’t stop me playing and enjoying the campaign due to the decent, if not somewhat repetitive, game play. It is possible that the story picks up past where I stopped listening and it could be to some peoples taste, yet after playing Fallout and even Gears of war 2 I did find it fairly uninteresting.

Multiplayer is another of the praised features of the game so I will give a quick mention here although I probably didn’t give it enough time to get the most out of it. The maps I went on were all well designed and could accommodate the 64 or 32 or whatever it is players with ease. It follows a levelling up system similar to Cod where weapons and classes are unlocked by progressing through the ranks. I am not a fan of these sort of systems as I feel it is a bit unfair to new players as they not only have to play against more experienced players but players who also have better equiptment. However I think there is some sort of matching system as I was never against people who completely owned me. Overall the multiplayer addition is well done although I’m not sure I personally prefer it to COD or Team fortress 2.

In conclusion defiantly worth the rent no doubt about that and you can form your own opinions, I am sure some people will really enjoy the the multiplayer after the campaign and get hours out of the game. The graphics are very good .The fact that the campaign is a bit repetitive and the story isn’t the best might dissuade you from paying the £37 but as a rental it is certainly a great choice and is one of the ps3s strongest exclusives I didn’t have to wait at all to get it either which considering it is only a few months old is great.

Rated - 5 starsThe best AI fighter game on the PS3 todate,

Richard C from Coalville , 09/03/2009

This games really good, I love playing it at home, only slight bad thing is there's too much much bad language, which is fine for the teenages, but not so good for the guys (fathers) playing with younger children around, I wish like COD WAW you can block this in the option. Fighting is really good and if you have a dolby surround system then just get the game for the sheer effects. Most FPS games I usually go for is the expert level, but in this game its hard and the average level is good just to go through the game at first. The AI is the best, the enermy come up to you even if you back off, they will move towards you, you have to push forward to win. Overall I love FEAR 2, I think the graphics are better and the surrounds are more varied, but this game is immence and so in your face.
