Brief synopsis of Batman Forever

Gotham City is once again under siege, this time by the mind-controlling Riddler and the diabolical Harvey Two-Face. The Caped Crusader cleans up with the help of his new side-kick Robin in this effects-laden thrill ride.

Rating of 4 stars out of 5 Radio Times

Although it performed well at the box office, the critics were less than convinced by the gloomy turn taken by Batman Returns. So, when Tim Burton said no to a third outing, Warners brought in the flamboyant Joel Schumacher. As a result, this entry is nowhere near as dark as its predecessors, even though the brooding Val Kilmer took over the Dark Knight's mantle from Michael Keaton. However, it's easily the funniest and the fastest of the quartet to date, with the action hurtling along at a breakneck pace. Throw in stylish special effects from a team that includes the legendary John Dykstra and Oscar-nominated photography from Stephen Goldblatt, and you have a rousingly undemanding piece of popcorn fodder.

Rating of 1
stars out of 4 Halliwell's Film Guide

A high-camp sequel, with the tone set by the redesigned, ever-more fetishistic Batman costume, the arrival of Robin, and the unrestrained antics of The Riddler; it's fun for much of the time.

USA Today

"...Val Kilmer nicely recharges the sexual batteries of both the brash Bat guy and billionaire alter-ego Bruce Wayne..." -- 3 1/2 out of 4 stars

i saw this movie when it was released i

was only little and found it to be

everything superhero film should be.

now i look back on it with the same

feelings but the difference is i orignally would have it as fvie star rating but now i think it deserves four. sure it has it's faults and confuses me at some scenes but the more you view the film the more it becomes clear what they mean. like he 'killed them, Two Face - he slaughtered them without thinking twice' even though he's not on about his own parents but someone else's. Jack Napier is still the man who killed Bruce's parents and

despite not reminding you of this with ' Have You Ever Danced With The Devil In The Pale Moonlight' like 1989's ' Batman' this film instead has

the whole roses falling on rain lashed alleyway instead. Nicole Kidman is Doctor Chase Merridian the psychologist

and journalist who has an attraction to

the dark knight. Bruce Wayne/Batman falls in love with her- she is kind to him when he has his nightmares and flashes and her ' wacko' respone [ see

the movie to understand what i mean] is well written and the movie has Jim Carrey as an obsessed scientist named

Edward Nygma who sends mysterious riddles to Bruce Wayne. he becomes The Riddler and joins Gotham's other recent

villain Two Face/Harvey Dent [Tommy Lee Jones replaces Billy Dee Williams in the role]with Two Face and The Riddler joined forces,The Riddler has brain machine which can drain people's intelligence and Two Face blames Batman for not being there on time when Boss Maroney slashed acid on his face in the court-room. this film should be a classic bat film it really excels.

Whether Comic Book Guy would agree with me or not, i thought this was the best batman film from the original 80's/90's series! Val Kilmer IS the best Batman--even Batman's creator thought so! [but that's really not to say that anyone else is wrong]and the action, script and structure is great--sure it's not without it's issues--but is any film?!! Sit back and relax, you'll hopefully enjoy this movie...

Rated - 1 starsThis movie has the campest buttock shot ever!

AWFUL!

Tim Burton would turn in his gravy if he had some!

There is one scene where Batman is getting ready and there is a completely unnecessary butt shot! WHY IS THIS HERE? Is it to show how good Val Kilmer's arse looks in rubber?

As for the film well it's just SH*T. Completely lost the point. OH And HOW MUCH DOES TOMMY LEE JONES OVERACT???

And the plot? Why does it take Bruce Wayne so long to solve the riddles? THEY ARE SIMPLE! My 8 year old son asked me, 'Daddy, why is Batman acting like a retard?' I just said yes!
