Brief synopsis of The Conduit

The Conduit takes players into a dark story in Washington D.C. after a vicious alien invasion has rocked the country. An organisation called the Trust has sent in Secret Service agent, Mr. Ford, to go up against the insect-like alien race known as "The Drudge." Armed with an array of futuristic weaponry and an intelligence-gathering device simply called the "All-Seeing Eye," players follow an intricate maze filled with conspiracy, shady government activity and terrifying aliens.

The Conduit's detailed control system allows players to customise and configure their controls, including look sensitivity, turning speed, the dead zone and much more. As players delve further into the mystery behind the extraterrestrial invasion, shocking details reveal that the invasion may have been brought on with help from the government itself.

This game is a big about damn time, the wii mote is perfect for this genre (with a mouse being the only thing as accurate) and it is strange how nobody has taken the effort to make a wii only game (as a pose to a port/remake).

The game does a very good job of creating an immersive single player experience with a decent enough story and real life locations e.g. the pentagon, my only complaint is that it is a little short (as seems to be the trend with shooters) however there are achivements and harder difficulty levels as well as secrets to uncover which should bring you back for more.

The main crust is the multi-player which offers capture the flag, team deathmatch etc. The online support is very good with a match being created quite quickly players thtat drop out can be replaced by new players which helps to keep the match going and not falling apart (ala Halo etc)

I would reccomend a purchase for this overall bet for those who are wary of course borrrow beg or steal!

The Conduit delivers what I feel is the first decent online experience on the Nintendo Wii. The online mode is fluid and could easily match what other consoles offer.

The single player mode harbours some very challenging levels and with the wii movement style (point and shoot) I feel it always has a vast advantage over its rivals.

Some of the levels have taken me over 40 minutes to complete, without even finding all of the hidden objects.

The Game AI is probably the best i've yet seen. It's easy to assume that the enemy you 'thought' you saw, was merely a glitch, but not with The Conduit, they'll be hiding behind the door, or will shoot you in the back as you walk away.

In Summary:-

- Smooth

- Fun

- Good Depth and playablilty

- 9/10

Rated - 3 starsGreat controls, average game

Good points:

- Excellent controls, letting you aim, shoot and throw grenades with speed and accuracy

- Some nicely detailed monsters and weaponry

- Decent online multiplayer

Bad points:

- Boring level design. Too many areas are just straight corridors where all you can do is stand and shoot and hope that your health bar lasts longer than your enemies. The graphics generally improve as the game goes on, but some early levels would have looked bad back in the PS2 days.

- Some annoying elements. Creatures that run straight at you and explode, invisible mines that can only be defused by putting your gun away, constant beeping alerts.

- Lots of cheap padding, including so many repeating rooms you'll occasionally think that you've accidentally turned around and are retracing your steps. You even have to play an entire section through * twice*, under the pretext that it's a flashback. (In spite of this, the game is still fairly short.)

- Uneven difficulty. By far the hardest part of the game occurs a third of the way in.

If you only own a Wii and are starving to play a new shooter, The Conduit might be worth a rent. Even so, I'd recommend playing Metroid Prime 3: Corruption and Medal Of Honour Heroes 2 before you make time for this.

An excellent game will seriously consider buying this one very similar in parts to metroid prime trilogy games and if you like shooter this is a good one.
