Chances are, whether you're young or old, or even have been living under a rock on Mars for the last 40 years, you'll have heard of MASH, and probably seen a few episodes. However, for those who havn't....

Set in a US medical camp in the Korean War, this comedy-drama follows the lives of the staff as they go about their duty under terrible circumstances, whilst somehow managing to maintain good humour, a sense of fun, and just as importantly for Hawkeye and the guys in 'The Swamp', a gin still :)

Based on the film of the same name, the series maintains its warmth and political sniping, making unlikely but ideally suited bedfellows of the two.

I believe this show still holds the highest viewing figures for a final episode (tho I may be wrong) ahead of Cheers and Friends. Either way, it ran for years and with good reason - the mainstay of any great, longrunning series - good scripts and great characters.

This DVD release cures the one and only problem with this show - canned laughter. Yes, you can switch off the canned laughter! Oh happy day!

Great entertainment! Rent it, rent them all, and join the impatient queue for subsequent series to be released!

It was great to be able to see all these episodes again. A real trip down memory lane! Despite the repeats, the characters and stories are as fresh as there were 30 odd years ago.

The other reviewer missed that if you choose, you can watch this without the canned laughter. Once you've chosen an episode, choose the audio menu and select the relevant audio.

The best thing on telly this Christmas - I now have 2 daughters (11 and 9) who wander round the house randomlly shouting 'incoming' - Mash is fabulously un p.c, giggles from Grandma to Grandchild.
