this is too dated IMO you would be better off watching the shield ,without a trace or one of the many better tv cop programmes

Rated - 5 starsBetter than any cop show on now.

Anneliese O'Callaghan from Eastbourne , 22/05/2006

Watching NYPD BLUE and HILL STREET BLUES today's cop shows seem so glossy, lacking in realism and character development. The scripts are superb and David Caruso and Dennis Franz have never been better.

If you like glossy, formulaic shows this is not for you but if you like innovation, realism, humour and superb writing and acting then rent this now.

Rated - 4 starsRide along with the boys in blue

What a joy to be able to watch this series again. I clearly recall the uproar it caused when it was first shown.

Although it seems tame compared to the shows currently on television,'NYPD Blue' was groundbreaking back when it started over 10 years ago.

It was a natural successor to 'Hill Street Blues.'

Rated - 4 starsA gem!

Talkland from Eastbourne, England , 30/07/2007

“NYPD Blue” is about how work affects their personal relationships of cops as well as being a cracking police show. It stars David Caruso as Detective John Kelly [he is now in CSI: Miami] and Dennis Franz as Detective Andy Sipowitz. It is a tough detective show with excellent story lines and characters. It is well-worth watching!

Rated - 5 starsFantastic gritty drama

This is the way cop shows should be, people swearing at each other!

This show was really one of the first to look at corruption through the medium of TV. Many shows (The Sopranos, Law and Order) have only come about because of shows like NYPD Blue.

Can't recommend this enough, and you'll have fun figuring out where you've seen some of the actors before!

Rated - 4 starsNypd Blue - the original and still the best

Nic from Edinburgh , 10/11/2004

I have been watching this for so long the first series is a distant memory, but the first 4 episodes don't disappoint.

The cast are all looking startling young and the cameos are a veritable who 's who of American Tv now. Well worth a look
