Brief synopsis of Break Of Dawn

Adrien is suffering from terminal cancer whilst Werner has a long standing death wish. BREAK OF DAWN brings together these two strangers in pre-election Bucharest, where they play a central part in a staged assault on a candidate. As part of the plan, the two must themselves be murdered. But although their circumstances make them suitable fall guys, their lives are initially spared when the attack descends into chaos. Staying alive thereafter involves dodging fellow conspirators and the police, but Adrien and Werner develop a bond in their adversity. A "buddy" movie for sure, but one fuelled by grim drama and high stakes.

Rating of 4 stars out of 5 Radio Times

A strong, affecting biopic telling the story of a courageous, unsung Los Angeles folk hero. Pedro J Gonzalez, played by Mexican actor/singer Oscar Chavez, was the city's first Hispanic radio host who, instead of opting to play a few mariachi songs and recommending taco outlets, tried to rouse his compatriots into nonviolent political action. Through the use of an intelligent script, a merciful lack of clichés and Chavez's fine performance, we come to understand the man and the hornet's nest he stirred up.

With a good cast list I was most dissappointed with this rental. The acting is wooden and storyline poor! However, with nothing on TV it passes 90 minutes.

Rated - 3 starsPassable but irritating

The story was okay but it was obviously a French directed film. The dialogue was typically french derived. In fact the lip synch was a bit out at times as well. I think that the actors were filmed speaking English but then some form of dubbing took place for some of them.

I found this and the french styles dialogue to be quite irritating.

I gave it 3 stars because it managed to keep my attention through more than just being a series of moving pictures.

No different from any other gangster film, only the plot was well over the top on this occasion.
