Vampire Hunter D on DVD (1985)

This film kept me glued to my seat - again, but not with the action that LOTR did, but with stomach lurching horror. This is the thrid anime film I have seen and probably the best, with Spirited Away coming in a close second. I think that if you're looking for something to watch at night with all the lights down, then you should get this film. But wait, all you've heard me saying is about the horror!!! There is an excellent storyline in there aswell and also a good commentary. I found that the storyline is what made me not want to miss another second.

Very dissapointing... cheese central

I had been looking forward to this film for ages, what a let down!

The animation is poor, the music is painfully cheesey and the story could have been writen completely on the back of a fag packet - rent it not.

Cheese!!

Though the english dubbing can be somewhat of an interferance to the dramatisation of the film, its highly full of CHEESE... it seems Toyoo Ashida and Carl Macek have no quarm with just getting straight to the point of what they mean, but at the same time try and keep a bit of suspense and intertwining plotlines to keep the audience riveted.

The first scene establishes the film as gothic, with the cliche gothic castle of count Magnus Lee against the moon.....and later the tradgic, macabre hero in D...who is a halfling himself therefore there lies both good and evil inside of him, the great use of shadows and blue/grey tinting too many scenes continues to emphasise this too...if you like gothic cinema, you'll have a field day with Vampire Hunter D.

The animation isn't the best quailty...but the film was made in 1985... and yer, it looks like an 80s animation.

Alright !!!!!

The animation is not that great but it is alright for me and I enjoyed the story since my husband loves vampire. Hmmmmmm now i know why he does....he he its fun movie but it could have been animated a lot better. Cheers!!!
