Brief synopsis of Shelter
Government corruption makes strange bedfellows when a straight-arrow Treasury Agent partners with a weapons-trading Greek Mafioso for protection from his agency colleagues, all of whom are on the take and aiming to bump the Mafioso off. Add to the mix the Mafioso's lovely wife, and soon there's no loyalty that can't be rent asunder.

Radio Times
Aside from the novelty of being centred around the Greek Mafia rather than the more familiar Italian or Russian outfits, this lukewarm thriller has little to recommend it. The wooden John Allen Nelson is a good cop who stands up against his department's corruption, saving the life of head mafiosi Peter Onorati and earning himself a new job as his security chief. Brenda Bakke shines in a sympathetic role as the maltreated wife who turns to Nelson for affection, but script and direction are strictly of a join the dots standard. Even Kurtwood Smith, who was such a great villain in RoboCop, fails to register as an immoral mobster rival.
