Rating of 4 stars out of 5 Radio Times

In this hilarious comedy, Jim Carrey stars as ruthless lawyer and compulsive liar Fletcher Reede, who misses his son's birthday party and is “cursed” to tell the truth for 24 hours. Carrey's frenzied physical and vocal contortions provide lots of amusing comic moments, as well as a few riotous ones, and the role is not only tailor-made for his rubber-faced antics but also gives him an opportunity to show a more human side. His bravura performance is reminiscent of Steve Martin's body battle in All of Me, as he hurls inadvertent insults and digs himself into an abyss in the middle of a big divorce case.

Halliwell's Film Guide

A comedy that merges Carrey's now familiar frenetic mugging with some gruesome sentimentality; soft-centred slapstick is not a pretty sight.

Lair Liar is another genius performance by jim carey. A father, that misses everything family related so that he can futher his career but always has an excuss, misses his sons birthday but that is the last straw. His son makes a wish on his birthday candles "i wish for one day my dad cant tell a lye" laughter and fun to follow. If you want a laugh get this film

Jim Carrey is always good value. A film that does not need too much thought, you can sit back and enjoy, if you miss 10 mins, you can catchup.

A good film to watch with company and maybe chat as well!

If you have a primitive sense of humour funny may be, but the movie does not in my opinion deserve the stars it has been given. If you have nothing else to watch go ahead rent it but otherwise you are not missing anything! Honest.
