Cobra on DVD (1986)
RelatedCritics ReviewsCrime is the disease and I'm the cure, claims cop Sylvester Stallone in a practically plotless mêlée of shooting and stabbing. The film tries to be Stallone's Dirty Harry (that film's Andrew Robinson and Reni Santoni have thankless supporting roles here), so it's unfortunate his idea of characterisation is mirror shades and a penchant for chewing matches. Although the relentless sequences of murder and mayhem are competently filmed by Rambo: First Blood Part II director George Pan Cosmatos (including a not-bad car chase), the film's unusually slender running time suggests any moments of tranquillity in the script must have been discarded somewhere along the way. Halliwell's Film Guide Relentless but unsurprising carbon of Dirty Harry, a bit too tough for its own good. Variety "...Sleek....Exciting....[The] film maintains its tension impressively..."
