Evening all. What's all this then — two Jean-Claude Van Dammes for the price of one? Yes, the Muscles from Brussels encounters his younger self — and sports a silly hairdo — when he's sent back in time to catch a sinister senator who is trying to change the past for his own monetary ends. If you can follow the time-travel logic, which everyone seems to be making up as they go along, then director Peter Hyams's gleaming comic-strip action adventure is dumb fun, with good old Jean-Claude causing as much futuristic Van Dammage as possible. However, most sci-fi fans will find it desperately outdated. Best exchange — Jean-Claude: “He read my mind.” Jean-Claude's wife: “With your English, I'm not surprised.”

Entertainment Weekly

"...Van Damme pulls off some novel stunts -- his midair split will have you hitting the slow-motion button..." -- Rating: B+

New York Times

"...It's hard not to enjoy [Van Damme's] energy....[He] seems to get better all the time..."

Rated - 4 starsVan Damme's best film

This must be Van Damme’s best film, with Legionnaire or Maximum Risk second best.

I wasn’t sure if Timecop would be as good as I remembered it from 10 years ago, but it was and after renting it, I just had to buy a copy.

Van Damme is a Timecop travelling back in time to stop a dishonest Senator from changing the past to ensure he becomes President in the future. Also while Van Damme’s back in time he might just be able to save the life of his wife murdered 10 years previous by the same Senator.

The fight action in the last 20 minutes is superb and the whole script holds your attention from the start.

Rated - 2 starsJean Claude does what he does best

This film gives you exactly what you expect; the bad guys have killed Van Damme's wife, and he breaks the rules to get even with them. All the usual martial arts antics are included, but it all just seems very pedestrian. But if you're a fan of Van Damme or this genre, slip this disc into your player, slip your brain into neutral and enjoy.
