Rated - 5 starsthe Devil's is one one of the best British films

I saw this film quite recently and was impressed by its style and content. The film has a wonderful use of speech and mannerism. It's visual style is also fantastic, in both costume and set design. The music too is in keeping with the dark intensity of the films subject and contents.

The film itself is based on two books which are themselves based on the conflict of religion, catholic and protestant in 17th century France.

The acting is archaic and yet modern.

The film is one of the best ever made in this country and stands up there with films such as lawrence of Arabia.
