Lion King II, The: Simba's Pride (1998)
RelatedCritics ReviewsDisney has become increasingly conservative in recent years, with family values ranking high on its list of plot priorities. So, while Simba's cub Kiara is allowed a moment of juvenile rebellion, she's soon roped into upholding the big cat equivalent of civic virtues, as she teams with her new pal, Kovu, to prevent his mum (Scar's embittered widow, Zira), from toppling her father from his position on Pride Rock. The returning Pumbaa and Timon provide a little light relief. But the graphics are less luxuriant, the songs less inspired. Yet, it still sold well on its direct-to-video release.
