Rating of 3 stars out of 5 Radio Times

No prizes for guessing who's the star of this British wartime flagwaver. Based on what remains to this day her signature tune, Vera Lynn shows in this sugary confection why you can count her film appearances on the fingers of one hand. However, nostalgia nuts will not be disappointed as she keeps smiling through even though her best pal, Patricia Roc, has clouded her blue skies by eloping with her soldier boyfriend. Amazing what a BBC contract can do to lift the spirits! Even though it was made by Columbia Pictures, this is a pretty amateurish affair, but tune in for a sing-song with Dame Vera, and Geraldo and his orchestra.

an excellent series which held our rapt attention throughout; we were sad when it ended.

I've wanted to buy this for a long time so was thrilled to see it available on the rental list. But when i came to watch it i found it so dull i didn't even bother to finish the first disc. oh well, win some, lose some.

I first watched this as a kid and enjoyed it then, I thought it wouldn't be as good second time round, but it is still good. It is easy to watch (you don't have to think much).

Television drama at its best. Interesting characters and storyline. Would have liked a second series though!

Excellent series.A little about how the Americans won the war.A bit slow moving at times and some VERY VERY corny American ascents. But still enjoyable.
