Brief synopsis of Streets Of Fire

A stylish, futuristic fable set to an exciting rock music beat. When rock diva Ellen Aim is abducted by the Bombers, a ruthless motorcycle gang, her manager offers her ex-boyfriend Tom Cody $10,000 to find and rescue the singer. Cody teams up with McCoy, a tough female ex-soldier, who together attack the Bombers'' stronghold, freeing Ellen from the bikers and destroying their lair. Tom and Ellen now find themselves on the run from the Bombers in the film''s eccentric futureworld.

Walter Hill (The Warriors, 48 HRS) obviously had fun with this violent rock-fuelled fantasy shot in a sort of youth culture neverland. Viewers will have fun spotting the faces of future stars such as Rick Moranis, Willem Dafoe, Amy Madigan, Bill Paxton, Diane Lane and Robert Townsend, although for Michael Paré, who plays the brooding loner hero, this was probably his career high spot. Paré arrives back in town just in time to gather up a posse of old friends and rescue his rock-star ex-girlfriend from the clutches of a merciless biker gang. Scored by the peerless Ry Cooder, the music also comes courtesy of retro-rockers the Blasters.

If you like music, if you like Action movies, if you like a little violence and hero's and someone who gets the girl in the end this is for you,Could be set at any time between the 50's and the 80's plus Walter Hill does not make bad movies and for me this is his best, an absolute classic with fantstic actors abd fab music to boot. My Fave movie and one not to be missed.

Rated - 5 starsrock and roll dreams come true

First saw this film when it came out in 1984 based on the Jim Steinman music. Thought it was fantastic then and think it still is. With a more mature viewing, I can see that some of the acting is quite wooden, but I actually think Rick Moranis' character is funnier than when I watched it years ago (I hated the character then - perhaps it was good acting afterall!).

Some people find the 'setting' confusing - but remember it is a 'rock and roll fable' set in 'another time and place'.

After reading the credits I can't believe so many 'top' muscicians were involved - Jim Steinman, Ry Cooder, Tom Petty, Stevie Nicks, Maria McKee, Dan Hartman.

This is a cult classic still waiting to be discovered...

Forget The Reviewer who never even watched the whole film, Rent this movie now and be swept away, Great Sounstrack ( one of the best ever according to some critics)great actors as well, Rick Moranis, Willem Dafoe, The beautiful Diane Lane and the Hero Michael Pare. The only thing missing from this movie would have been Bonnie Tyler's I Need A Hero, because it sums this movie up, It's maybe cheesy at times but it's a great movie

Rated - 5 starsClassic

The music makes this under rated rock n roll movie - I loved it on first release and its soundtrack was the soundtrack to my life back in '84. Look out for a young Dave Alvin on guitar with LA greats The Blasters. The story is simply a vehicle for some classic performances.
