RelatedCritics ReviewsThis weak update of Buster Keaton's 1925 classic Seven Chances stars Chris O'Donnell as a young man who must get married by his 30th birthday (just 24 hours away) if he is to inherit $100 million from his deceased grandfather. His girlfriend (Renee Zellweger) has already given up on him, so it's up to O'Donnell to try all his ex-girlfriends to see whether any will take him on. (The deal doesn't end with the ceremony: the potential bride also has to live with him for ten years and bear his children.) Unfortunately, no matter how pretty his face is, O'Donnell lacks both the charisma and comic timing to hold this unfunny film together. Despite a nicely bitchy turn from Brooke Shields and the well-choreographed scene in which O'Donnell is chased through San Francisco by a horde of wedding dress-wearing women, this has few touching or amusing moments — hardly a great recommendation for a romantic comedy.
