Fabulous, superb acting all round esp. Blythen and Whately. So pleased they didn't do a stereotypical job on the residential home or the behaviour and reactions of the characters. For 'people watchers' a fascinating film, no criticisms at all.

Loved this when it was on tv. not predictable. good nights viewing.

have queued it, to watch again, as i loved it so much the first time.

Is it Kevin 'What-ley', or

'Wait-ley' ?

Anyone know ?

Have to ask him when I see him in Morries with his Ma !!

Rated - 4 starsA good watch

Quite absorbing tale with a good performance from Blethyn, although her character did suspend belief a bit, how many women could keep such an even keel during the traumatic carryings on of the film . The support from Massey and Harris was first rate and much more believable, Massey being particularly touching and likeable. Whately was as one dimensionable as ever - I don't know how he has managed to become so successful when he has a very limited range (rather like Stephen Tomkinson). He character was ruthless but I'd have like to have known more about what drove him to do what he did. It was a little unresolved and left me wanting to know why.

This is a beautifully acted drama, one of the best. You will adore Brenda Blethyn here, she is incredibly good. Slow in parts but compensated by the dialogues and acting skills of the cast. Anna Massey is glorious :-)
