I was a little surprised to find that this DVD was in fact made-up of two feature lenght episodes, chronicling the life of Caesar Augustus. Nevertheless, though not totally au fait with the history of the period, I was impressed, and entertained. In my view it captures very well the intrigue and politicking which put, and kept Octavius Caesar in power, and made him one of the greatest Romans. The title and cover maynot immediately attract, but well worth the effort to watch a quality, entertaining and educational rendition

Thank God for Peter O'Toole. Without him, this movie would have been very painful.

The fact it went straight to video speaks volumes. If there was any justice, it would have gone straight to the trash can. Director Roger Young has inflicted a lot of dud TV on the public over the years. This might be his finest hour. It would take 10 seconds to realise the script was a lulu.

What a drag of a film. Time to retire, Mr Young.

Rated - 1 starsthis may not be a fair review, but....

I'll write it anyway. I only got through 15 mins of this. I'm into big, sweeping historical epics, but couldn't suffer this. I doubt Peter O'Toole has ever been quite so hammy in his life. Terrible acting by everyone I saw. It may be accurate, but I'd rather read a book. In fact, I did.
