This is not anime, it's not oriental in anyway it's instead a film about the white man moving in and destroying the natives way of life as seen in many films previously.

As usual the natives are of the noble savage traditions living in honourable harmony with their environment meanwhile the whites blunder in over hunt fish and exploit and everyone suffers so far so passe.

Here though there's some lovely pictires of the great white wilderness and erm that's about it. Lou Diamond Phillips produces another workman like performance showing himself a steadt rather than great actor the plot is to say the least thin and the characters too weak for you to care much about any of them.

This film needed stronger direction and more depth to the characters to really succeed as it stands it's barely worth a look and that largely for the cinematography.
