Brief synopsis of Love Hina - Vol. 1

Keitaro made a promise to a young girl to meet her at Tokyo University when they grew up. Unfortunately he fails his entrance exam twice and his parents give up on him. His grandmother, who runs an inn which is also a female dormitory, takes him on. The girls tease him but he still will not give up on his childhood friend, even though he is unable to remember her name.

I absolutely love the start of this new anime series - very funny, includes alot of the funny faces we see so often in anime, the guy gets beat up far too often during this but hey its entertaining, characters and voices are done really well - a brill masterpiece - cant wait to watch the next installments! Rent it - its worth it!

Rated - 4 starsFantastic anime series

Gary from London , 24/08/2006

If anyone has read the manga for this series then it is a pretty good adaptation. The basic story line revolves around the main character Keitaro who a high school student trying to pass his exmas to get into university because when he was very young he made a promise to a girl that when they grow up to go to the same university. Keitaro goes to visit his grandma and lands a job as the manager of an all girls dorm. The series shows his struggles as the manager and also his struggle with his studies. There is also good storylines for all the girls in the dorm. The OVA or specials (like feature length episodes) are excellent as well. The only crticism that I would make is that the series doesnt follow the manga exactly and on a more personal note if you watch the dubbed version, why on earth has Kitsune got a Southern American accent? Overrall a very funny, charming and heart warming anime series. Well worth a watch for people who aren't familiar with anime. Suitable for girls and boys.

I would recommend renting this movie especially if you enjoy anime. Very funny and entertaining. There are some slightly crude parts but nothing too bad.

Rated - 3 starsCharming but Irretrievably Daft

A customer from London, England , 25/11/2005

Still a bit of an anime virgin here, so this was an interesting introduction. The animation is lovely, really very well done.. although slightly unsettling in the big-eyes-tiny-skirts misogynised way of Manga girlies. Daft storylines and nice-but-dim characters make this a very engaging way to while away the winter nights. Not enough episodes though, and the 'feisty' girls totally need anger management therapy! Eeek!

Rated - 4 starsAbsolutely brilliant!

I really enjoyed this, and I agree with the other review. In fact, I have watched all of the Love Hina series with Japanese audio and English subtitles. I first watched this series in Japanese, and found it really funny but the English dub really makes you miss the Japanese humour.

Overall, a great piece of anime from Japan!
