Brief synopsis of Win A Date With Tad Hamilton!

Robert Luketic, the director of LEGALLY BLONDE, helms this retro romantic comedy that stars Kate Bosworth as Rosalee Futch, a modern day Sandra Dee embroiled in a whirlwind love triangle. Rosalee, a naively innocent small-town girl works at her local Piggly Wiggly and dreams of love with movie hunk Tad Hamilton (Josh Duhamel) unaware that her best friend and manager Pete (Topher Grace) is secretly in love with her but afraid to tell her how he really feels. Meanwhile, in Hollywood, Tad Hamilton's bad boy image needs some revamping so his managers (played by Nathan Lane and Sean Hayes) cook up a charity contest to WIN A DATE WITH TAD HAMILTON! in an effort to clean up his act. In West Virginia, Rosalee enters and surprisingly wins, and is instantly whisked away to Los Angeles for a tabloid perfect dream date complete with a stretch limo and make-over, much to the chagrin of tortured Pete. What begins as a publicity stunt becomes much more serious as Tad becomes smitten by Rosalee's innocence and honesty. Within days he follows Rosalee back to West Virginia, buys a house, and declares his love to her, shocking not only Rosalee but also the entire town, especially Pete. Back home, Rosalee is forced to choose between a fantasy romance with Tad or the real life love possible with Pete in this classic 1950s style romance that harkens back to the days of Elvis Presley and Sandra Dee.

Rating of 3 stars out of 5 Radio Times

This pleasing romantic comedy from Legally Blonde director Robert Luketic may break no new ground, but it treads old territory with surprising sweetness. Kate Bosworth plays Rosalee, a small-town supermarket checkout girl who enters a competition to win a date with dreamboat Hollywood superstar Tad (Josh Duhamel, from TV's Las Vegas). And, of course, she wins, much to the chagrin of her co-worker Pete, who's secretly in love with her. Tad initially regards Rosalee as just another potential notch on the bedpost, but gradually finds himself falling head over heels for the girl's simple charms. Next thing you know, he's off to Hicksville to woo and win her. Nicely underplayed and with likeably credible leads, this is the sort of film for which the term “feel-good” might have been especially coined.

Halliwell's Film Guide

Bright, unmemorable, romantic comedy that stays in the shallows.

Rated - 3 starsAn enjoyable piece of fluff

A customer from UK , 17/11/2004

This is a good enough movie, don't expect anything great, but it is reasonably entertaining, raises a few smiles and whiles away an evening pleasantly enough. It doesn't pretend to be anything more than a teen romance movie.

Rated - 4 starsOne of the best teen flicks in ages!

A customer from Middle Earth , 18/11/2004

I have to say this was lovely to watch. Definetley more a chick flick but a must see all the same.

I am a big fan of That 70's show and I have always liked Topher Grace in that, so it was nice to see him in something without the awful wig.

The acting was good, and although it was an obvious story, it was enjoyable to watch all the same. It may even be one I could watch again.

To summerise, a fairytale story with lots of eye candy and a good film all round.

Rated - 3 starsExactly what you are expecting

Rebecca Barker from Southampton, England , 13/09/2005

With this film you get exactly what you are expecting to get. Small town where a boy & girl have been friends all their lives. Boy loves girl but girl doesnt know it. Boy is about to tell girl when big movie star comes & falls for girl. Girl then has to choose. However, this is well acted by all & does not fail to deliver. Well worth watching with your girlfriends.
