Brief synopsis of Gridlock'd

When a friend OD's and winds up in a coma, a mismatched pair of Detroit junkies strive to seek help in kicking their heroin habit in government-sponsored programs, only to find themselves drowning in the comical--and sadly accurate--bureaucratic morass of sanctioned detox centers. An authentic, scathingly satiric black comedy debut from actor-turned-writer/director Vondie Curtis Hall, featuring the final big screen performance of murdered rapper Tupac Shakur.

Rated - 2 starsa good blend of Comedy and Drama

Philmster from Middlesex , 26/11/2003

I rentified this with the sole purpose of seeing another Tim Roth performance, and in that respect I wasn't disappointed, nor was I disappointed in the film, it did exactly what it said on the box, a good blend of Comedy and Drama.

Though not the greatest of its kind, it is by no means the worst, with stellar performances from Tupac and Tim Roth, who blended brilliantly together. Though the performance from Thandie Newton brought the overall gloss down a bit, she didn't entirely ruin the flick.

The direction was solid, with some nice shots, the cinematography, however, was nothing special, same old same old.

The true highlight of this film is the two main characters (Roth + Tupac) who truly light up the screen, without these two, the film would have been nothing.

Overall, a good watch when you have nothing to do, but not a great.

Rated - 4 starsCool as .... !!

Paul Jay from London, England , 07/08/2004

This is a cool movie. Tupac gives a great performance, and it is a tragedy he wasn't around long enough to be in other movies, as his star would surely have risen even higher. Tim Roth, also gives a polished performance, but we are used to that from the excellent Roth. Watch out also for a small part from the beautiful Lucy (Alexis) Liu.

Rated - 5 starstupac 5 star

michelline lee from england , 20/07/2004

i have to give this movie a 5 star rating because the combination of Tupac and Tim Roth is excellent to say the least. This film is gritty and a little shocking but Tupac keeps it real and I love movies that i can talk about and recommend to other people. watch and decide for yourself. Tupac fans must rent.
