Edwardian whimsy that may provide moderate entertainment for small children, though it lacks magic.

Magical and charming - its really nice to see films this come out to remind you that you don't need to spend hundreds of millions of pounds a la Harry Potter to make a worth while and entertaining film for children. I thought Eddie Izzard as 'It' was hilarious, and there were some standout performances from the children, particularly Freddie Highmore who looks to be someone to watch for the future. Definately worth watching on a cosy night in.

Good actors but the story was very weak. It wasn't explained how this IT had arrived etc. I'm surprised such good actors took the role, boring for adults and children no story at all!

Rated - 5 starslovely family film

This is such a lovely story, perfect for a Sunday afternoon. The actors were great. Highly recommended- Mums get the tissues out but kids will have fun with Eddie Izzard (as the sand fairy!) in a different light. No swearing, no violence, all round delight.

I dont know how I missed this at the cinema. Absolutely fantastic story which kept my kids spellbound. A family are evacuated during the war and go to stay at an eccentric Uncle's house in the country. They are forbidden to enter a room, which obviously they ignore and the story is about the adventures they have. Good Clean Family Entertainment. My children loved it so much we went straight out and bought it. Highly recommended!

Eight year old daughter tells me this was great. 'It' was the best character because he was very funny. She also liked the emotional bits which made her feel happy. She reports that five year old brother also enjoyed it.

A success for the target audience then.
