Not Elia Kazan's 1945 classic about family values at risk, but a TV-movie remake that labours to make the same points about the deserving poor. There are fine performances, however, notably from Diane Baker, as the Mother Courage of the lower orders, and Cliff Robertson as the alcoholic head of the family and occasional breadwinner.
