RelatedCritics ReviewsStand by Me meets Deliverance was probably the unlikely pitch for this truly awful buddy comedy from Little Nicky director Steven Brill. After the death of a childhood friend, Matthew Lillard, Seth Green and Dax Shepard embark on a whitewater rafting adventure in his memory, only to be pursued by insane backwoodsmen. The trio are a thoroughly unappealing and boorish lot — a pity since both Lillard and Green have been likeable in other movies — but the fault isn't entirely theirs. Jay Leggett and Mitch Rouse's asinine screenplay manages the impressive feat of being both irritating and tedious simultaneously, and then seasons the tasteless mix with persistent, casual homophobia. It's lazily topped off with a nauseating lesson about the joys of simply being alive. With tripe like this in the cinemas, you might find yourself questioning the truth of that particular homily. Halliwell's Film Guide Weak and witless comedy about thirty-somethings behaving like the hapless adolescents they still are; they even forgot to pack a script for their journey.
