Brief synopsis of Mission: Impossible 2

This is the action-packed sequel to the 1996 blockbuster, which in turn was based on the popular 1960s television show of the same name. Tom Cruise reprises his role as Ethan Hunt, leader of the IMF team that is responsible for embarking on top secret, dangerous missions that will maintain world peace and stability. Their mission this time is to track down and destroy a deadly virus that is on its way to falling into the wrong hands. With the clock ticking, Hunt and his cohorts must save the day before it's too late.

Halliwell's Film Guide

Empty-headed action flick, even more like a James Bond adventure than its predecessor, with a risible narrative gimmick of face-mask disguises; the stunts are often spectacular, but as they are staged like circus turns, they rapidly become uninvolving.

Rolling Stone

"...Woo generates explosive excitement....Cruise sizzles in a killer blast of thrills, suspense and delicious sin..."

USA Today

"...[John Woo] directs action the way others stage Wagnerian operas..." -- 3 out of 4 stars

Unintentionally hysterical. The bit near the end when Tom Cruise walks passed the doorway in slo-mo with white doves flapping around him had me rolling on the floor. I wish John Woo would bugg*r off back to Hong Kong. At least it's better than the first one, although that's not to difficult.

Sam Peckinpah he ain't. This movie is just plain dumb and BADLY directed, this man has clearly lost the plot.

We have a virus that when in the blood stream, doesn't actually seem contagious, as the 2 characters that do actually pump it into their blood stream wander willy nilly through airports, cities and have close contact with the other main characters, who don't seem to care or contract anything. So you ask yourself,erm...where is the danger exactly?

Tom Cruise does a lot of posturing and ludacrious stunts. Lot's of mask ripping and crummy dialogue, infact if you want a laugh, it's much funnier than Starsky and Hutch.

On the pants scale it gets 4 out of 5.

Rated - 1 starsChav's will like it - brain dead John woo drivel

A customer from UK , 26/06/2004

Only brain dead chav's will relate to the brain dead film making of John Woo. Quite simply Woo is the worst film maker in history with his all style and no substance approach.

Over the top acting, dreadful dialogue, stupid photography and TONS of unncecessary slow motion shots.

AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE.

MI 1 was only average. This film despit a few good special effects is very mediocre. The stunts always look unbelievable and much of the acting is wooden.
