Brief synopsis of Messiah - Series 1 & 2

As London wilts during a heat wave, a series of rich men are murdered and mutilated and the silver spoons being placed in the victims mouths are the only clues to be found. Detective Superintendent Red Metcalfe (Ken Stott) is the man called upon to try and find a pattern in the killings and to catch the perpetrator. This disc contains both parts of this made-for-TV series.

This was a superb thriller, gripping until the last minute. These TV dramas are so superior to so called Hollywood blockbusters. Highly reccommended.

As an avid reader of the Rebus books I was a bit sceptical as to wether the stories could be trasposed to TV but what can I say Ken Stott fantastic as the stories could have been written for him.Darker than Taggart, better than Prime suspect.

I saw this when it was first shown on tv and I had to see it again. This is excellent.Gripping drama that keeps you in suspense till the end.Better than any hollywood blockbuster.I cant think of a bad thing to say about it.Very gruesome but worth renting to see ,in my opinion, the best drama ever to come out of British television.

Rated - 4 starsHe's not the Messiah, he's a ...........

Christopher Bustin from Northampton, England , 04/02/2005

This being only my second foray into the Messiah universe, and the first episode wasn't my first. I was pleased to see that they have managed to keep the suspense throughout the series. Although that said it was the acting by a superbly cast line-up that made it so. Although I had worked out who dune it, and why by about half way through that still did not make the rest of the program any less enjoyable. Pretty much a must for all thriller fans. I can only hope the ones i've yet to see live up to the high standard.

Rated - 4 starsGood thriller

Great drama. I had seen this on TV and really enjoyed it. The book is very good too.

Well worth seeing if you like a good thriller, and if you hate films like 'Seven' then this is really not the film for you.
