Sandra Bullock plays a rough-around-the-edges FBI agent, sent undercover to infiltrate the most kitschy of events; the 'Miss United States' beauty pagent.

I admit, in theory; it doesn't look too good, but in practise, everything just seems to click and turns 'Miss Congenialty' into a movie that is so much better than it has any right to be.

Ms Bullock steals the show as Grace Hart/Gracie Lou Freebush and shows off her comedic ability to its full extent. The supporting cast of Michael Caine, William Shatner and Candice Bergen also play their respective roles perfectly.

My only (minor) gripe would be that the idea of transforming Sandra Bullock from a frumpy nerd into a glamorous beauty isn't really that unbelievable, but it takes absolutely nothing away from this charming, amusing movie.

Actually very good! Sandra B was hilarious!

Okay it's not hitchcock but it makes for great entertainment. Bullock is extremely funny as the frump FBI agent who has to go undercover as a beauty queen to find out who is responsible for the death threats against the other contestants. Although it kind of insults our intelligence by expecting us to believe that Miss Bullock needs to be 'transformed' into a beauty queen, the movie is still very enjoyable. Bullock was hilarious and Michael Cain was superb as the gay beauty consultant! Worth a watch.

Lighthearted

This easy to watch movie has nothing in it you wouldn't have seen in any other hollywood movie.

Similar storylines too many, however there are lots of laughs and I'm sure a teen population will enjoy this movie, as will those that just want to chill for the evening.

A great introduction

The film that helped make Sandra Bullock a leading star, this relies heavily on her charming skills as a comedienne, stuntwoman and actress.

She plays a tough, totally unfeminine FBI agent who must become a contestant in the 'Miss America' beauty pageant show in order to foil a bombing plot. The film is unpretentious and makes no great, meaningful statements - its just a fun 'popcorn' movie, no more no less.

Any promising young actress willing to appear made up to be extraordinarily unnatractive for the opening stages of the movie has to have more qualities than just looks to offer, and the film has to come up with an enjoyable script. Sandra Bullock and 'Miss Congeniality' provide both. I hope 'Miss Congeniality 2' will be just as good.
