Brief synopsis of Drop The Dead Donkey - The Writer's Choice

This disc contains six episodes of the comedy series that have been chosen by the writers along with an additional set of 50 classic moments. Set in the chaotic office of Globelink News, there is never a dull moment as personalities clash and incompetence reigns supreme.

A fairly representative selection of episodes from a time just a decade ago when comedies had to have jokes to be thought funny.

The satirical barbs are to me slightly less enduring than the character interplay. (Hard to believe now that Virginia Bottomley and Peter Lilley were once deemed worthy of satire!)

This selection of episodes suggests why this show was so good, but makes me demand whole series DVDs, rather than isolated shows that don't show how characters were subtly developed as years passed. (Superb writing by Hamilton and Jenkin.)

Great shame we don't get the Christmas party classic, or the paintball episode, but the clips included as extras wet the appetite for a complete collection. How about it?

i had forgotton how good this andy hamiltons classic comedy was - years before the office and much funnier, more realistic and a brilliant reminder of early 1990's. The only downer is their only 6 episodes, but each one is a gem . Why don't channel 4 produce comedies like this any more ?

All the best from the Drop the Dead Donkey team, best lines, best plots and analyses the traits of each character superbly.

Does not age with time although in its day it was a topical news comedy.
