Rated - 5 starsShot in my home town

Anthony Bolton from Bolton, Lancashire , 22/04/2006

VERY accurate to some families I knew as a youngster growing up in Bolton (Even know the house where the family lived was two bedroomed as I lived in an identical house on the other side of town so a tight squeeze for The Cromptons!)

A money-pinching strict father played by James Mason,Mother played by Diana Coupeland, One Daughter (Susan George) Decides she does'nt want her Herring for tea and the story goes from a *Waste Not,Want not* plot.

One of my top movies ever, My only moan living in Bolton is the end section where Mother appears to Run from Deane to Darcy Lever and end up in Little Lever as though only a few hundred yards from their front door :-)

This movie sadly,Is hard to get and still not released on DVD...I live in hopes as a release from the studios or a Freebie in the newspapers!!
