Brief synopsis of Animal

Animal is a violent gang member sentenced to prison, leaving his young son to grow up alone on the streets. While in prison, Animal meets an aging black revolutionary who changes the way Animal sees himself and his place in the world. When Animal returns home many years later, now a reformed man, he discovers his son has assumed his life of crime and must find a way to tear down the gangster legacy that he created himself.

When I saw the title 'Animal' I thought it would be a film about animals and maybe narrated by David Attenborough. I was hoping it would have those funny creatures with big eyes and ears but small faces. I think they come from Madagascar? Instead it was some junk about gangs in a prison. I feel cheated.

Ving play's the part of Animal the leader of a gang who has spent most of his adult life as a convict (sound familiar)

When Animal gets a chance of parole he decides to change his life for the sake of his son (who turns out to be a younger version of his dad).

I won't spoil it for you but this film is not all action as you would expect from the title, but is based more on Animal's reasons to change his life.

A great story if you can get past the middle part of the film (which is quite slow) and an ending that may make you pick the phone up and tell your dad you love him.
