if you liked the other ghost in the shell you will love this although newcomers may find it easier to start with the first series. but you dont need both discs to see the first 4 episodes. volume 1 disc 1 & volume 1 disk 2 are identical except for the sound format.

Rated - 1 starsWaste of time

Don't waste your time with these unless you are a serious GITS junkie.

I ordered both volume 1 and volume 2, Vol 1 says it contains episodes 1-2 and Volume 2 says it contains episodes 3-4.

What you'll find is that both discs are identical in every way and contain episodes 1-4 each.

The episodes are rather short (approx. 25 minutes each) the illustration is noticeably poorer than the movies and the plots are either trite or confusing.

Rated - 5 starsAs good as the first series.

Section 9 and the Major are back, and the second series begins a few months after the conclusion of the Laughing Man incident. The episodes are a combination of stand alone and continuing storylines but this time the threat comes from a terrorist cell known as the Individual Eleven.

If you enjoyed the first series, then you should love this. The animation is still top notch, and the blend of action and plot/character development is superb. The DVD package is just as good as previous Ghost in The Shell discs with well designed menus and the usual bonus features (producer interviews etc.).

Both discs contain all of the first four episodes with disc one containing stereo soundtracks and disc two containing Dolby 5.1 episodes.

Highly recommended. My only gripe being that Vol.2 isn't out yet (I can't wait for it to come out).

Rated - 4 starsSame good stuff

Still gory, mature, political, phylosophical and with the same strange clothes. GITS has great music, graphics, actions and entertains everytime.

Rated - 2 starsGo rent Appleseed or Karas instead

After the legendary ghost in the shell I thought I'd take a leap of faith and boy, did I fall flat on my face with this one. Nothing at all to do with the movie - the first episode is about ten minutes of exposition so blatant and dull it's painful. Avoid. Like the plague.
