Brief synopsis of Domino

The already larger-than-life story of Domino Harvey, a former Ford model turned bounty hunter, takes on mythological proportions in Tony Scott's (TRUE ROMANCE, MAN ON FIRE) fast-paced action thriller. Unfolding in a non-linear fashion as a bloodied Domino (Kiera Knightley) is interrogated by iron-faced Officer Taryn Miles (Lucy Liu), the film traces the trajectory of Domino's tumultuous life. Beginning with the death of her beloved father, the actor Laurence Harvey (THE MANCHURIAN CANDIDATE), Domino develops into a hard-nosed, scrappy young woman who trains with nunchucks beside her mother's luxurious pool and responds violently to anyone who crosses her. Bored with the runway and the glamorous LA life, Domino shows up for a bounty-hunter seminar. Catching the teachers of the seminar as they try to cut and run with the proceeds, she manages to win their respect and joins their team. This consists of Ed Mosbey (Mickey Rourke), the tough-as-nails leader and Domino's surrogate father, and Choco (Edgar Ramirez), an impulsive Venezuelan who harbours a not-so-secret love for Domino. The three form a kind of family, working under Claremont Williams (Delroy Lindo), who plays Charlie to their three angels. For a time they are unstoppable, even agreeing to let the slimy Mark Heiss (Christopher Walken) produce a reality-TV show about them, which is hilariously hosted by Ian Ziering and Brian Austin Green (BEVERLY HILLS 90210). But when Claremont orchestrates a complicated inside job in order to raise the money for his granddaughter's doctor bills, the precarious balance within the trio is disturbed. Tom Waits stands out in a cameo as a wise wanderer who advises the lost bounty hunters.

Rated - 1 starsreally awful

I've been trying to work out what it is that I dislike about this film and believe it or not, its not that easy. This film has all of the right ingredients to be great - a kick-ass hero played by a cute actress in the prime of her career supported by an excellent ensemble cast which includes uber-cool veterans Mickey Rourke and Christopher Walken. So where could it possibly go wrong? Well, the simple answer is - everywhere. The script is dire, the acting is second rate and it feels like you're being told 'this film is cool' unconvincingly throughout the whole movie. Ms Knightley seems to think that being cool involves chomping on chewing gum, cocking her head slightly and putting her weight on one leg...but this becomes old within minutes of the film starting. Its like having a seventies fashion victim constantly telling you 'hey, I'm cool. I'm the greatest. look at me, no-one has ever been this cool before'. Its pseudo-cool...and it just doesn't work. The first few minutes of the film are like an mtv rock video - slightly sepia action with a mechanised and slightly echoed voice over. But then unfortunately, you soon realise that the director doesn't have any other styles - as this annoyingly echoey voice over continues throughout the film. Its as pretentious as a perfume advert whispered voice-over saying stuff like 'e-ternity...for men' and it just begins to grate after a while. In all honesty I was really upset that the film turned out to be this bad. I really wanted it to work and was really looking forward to disagreeing with the terrible reviews that its received. But unfortunately, they're all correct. There isn't a single redeeming quality about this film other than Knightley's looks - if I could give it a half star I would. It tries too hard to be cool when all they really had to do to achieve that was to tell the story as it was. Therefore it turned out as the embarrassing-uncle-dancing-at-a-wedding equivalent of film cool. Rubbish and cringeworthy.

This film is not good!

The story line- very loosly based on a true story has the potential to be a really good film, but the direction in which Tony Scott has taken this film is painful. It's disjointed, jerky, and quirky for the sake of it but for no apparant reason.

Even the acting from a stellar cast can't save this film, which is a shame for everyone involved, excpet the director.

I felt the need to rate this film - because it really was that terrible.... I should have realised it wouold be awful when I read the the blurb on the cover "Kiera Knightly - bounty hunter" (enough said).

Completely incredulous, this one didn't last beyond the first 20 minutes in our house; it's just a shame there isn't a lower rating to give this flick.

Unfortunately I rented this without looking at the reviews first - something I will not do again. I join the countless others who flicked the switch before the end.

A poor attempt at a stylish thriller, the plot is confusing, the characters dull & the story jumps constantly. Combined with the terrible jittery style of filming this is actually painful to watch, please don't bother!

I gave up after the title sequence. The thing is it's a Tony Scott film,it's all flash bang wallop.( Not always a bad thing 'De JaVu' is pretty good.)

This is notable for an almost plump-faced,VERY boyish looking Kiera, saying 'F' You Cee Kay' quite a lot. In fact ,she says it pre-title sequence, and they seem so proud of the fact ,that it becomes the tag line FOR the title sequence. The opening scenes tell you everything you need to know, including that the character's dad is,apparently Lawrence Harvey?! Eh?

Even the appearance of the astonishingly beautiful Lucy Lui couldnt keep me interested.
