A heartfelt Walt Disney story of a poor 1860s Texas family and the wonderful dog who befriends them. At first, young Travis wants nothing to do with the stray. I watched this years ago, a really sad story about a boy and his dog, dads gone away and the boy has to look after mam and the ranch, an epic, with beautiful scenary, dont expext a film of action, just family values, with tears and joy

This is a good film for all you dog lovers, and others who like a film from the 50s with the homespun American feeling that Disney was so good at. It always surprises me that child actors as good as the ones in this film often don't go on to become adult stars. Of course the dog's the real star here but be prepared to shed a few tears before the end.
