A sensitive but not always convincing study of the personalities involved in a dysfunctional family whose tragedy is their inability to be honest with one another when it matters.

Rated - 4 starsIntelligent drama

As usual, Sigourney Weaver gives a very convincing and entertaining performance in this intelligent drama.

This is a portrait of a family in quiet disarray, living with a tragic recent event and trying to overcome past problems.

It can seem like it is aimless at times, but is always watchable. The payoff is in the last 30 minutes or so, which completes the film in a satisfying way.

If you like an intelligent drama with good performances and concvincing characters then this is worth a watch.

There are plenty of shoddily made dramas that really ARE tedious - but this isn't one of them!

Rated - 2 starsOK Film, Just very slow.

A watchable (just) account of a dysfunctional family, and how they cope with various situations life throws up. Slow but ultimately satisfying. Try it for a midweek pass the time movie.

Rated - 1 starsImaginary acting...film just not convincing enough...

A customer from North London , 19/08/2006

Could have been a good film had it come together better, which it didn't.

The topics covered were relevant, one of them being: secrets and the effect they have upon its' keepers and those loved to them.

The film lacked momentum(it maintained a steady slow pace throughout which could have allowed the viewer to slip in and out of sleep)and I felt here was a lack

of effort from all actors as to what was being achieved. Not a convincing movie, or rather not convincing portrayal of the characters. Weaver as usual was the only reason I watched the film till the end. She was excellent.

Rated - 2 starsDisappointing

What a shame - love Sigourney and (from what I managed to stick with during the film) she was great in this. But it was a poor man's Ordinary People and I ended up switching off after 40 minutes or so and flicking to the end. It was all a little bit obvoius and dull.
