Brief synopsis of Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons Of Liberty

Metal Gear Solid 2 is what we could call a must have title. This game has it all, and then some. The initial criticism of the PS2's software line-up can now officially come to an end; Sons of Liberty is almost upon us. MGS2 will make your jaw drop. Metal Gear Solid 2 is essentially a tactical espionage game. The aim of the game is to avoid detection while you carry out your missions. A stealth approach is necessary to avoid being seen, if you are spotted by the guards or cameras, you better run and hide or face being killed. Luckily you have a radar that shows you the enemies field of vision and which way they are looking. You can sneak up behind them, break their necks and drag them off to an inconspicuous location. How you choose to play the game is up to you, but evasion is the best tactic. The graphics in Metal Gear Solid 2 are literally stunning. The intro sequences are all rendered real-time and show how powerful the PlayStation 2 really is. The only graphical annoyance is the jagged edges of the polygons, something we were promised that full screen anti-aliasing would remove. The audio is remarkably fitting to the game, the pace and style adjust accordingly to the action. Overall, Metal Gear Solid 2 is an intelligent, beautiful, playable game. Worth buying a PlayStation 2 for.

This must be the 5th time I have played this game and it still amazes me. Certainly the best MGS (Metal Gear Solid) game I've played, it's definitley better than MGS3. The storyline is compelling, (most) characters are great, and the gameplay is awesome.

Everything is stealth, stealth, stealth. And that's good because it makes the player think more about thier actions, rather than just going in all guns blazing. The player has to make tactical decisions all the time to prevent being seen and taking out enemies silently and stealthly, one needs make it like one has never been there at all.

The game has a lot of humour as well, from the dopey guards to the secret, humuorus messages planted around certain areas.

I don't want to give the story away so I won't continue. but rent or buy this game NOW! There's too much to tell on how how good it is!
