Brief synopsis of The Underground Comedy Movie

Following in the tradition of KENTUCKY FRIED MOVIE, this collection of irreverent sketch comedy parodies everything from TV shows and music videos to scatological supermodels and homeless beauty pageants. Features a lively punk soundtrack and guest appearances
by Michael Clarke Duncan (THE GREEN MILE), Slash (of legendary rock band Guns & Roses) and Gena Lee Nolin (of Baywatch fame).

Rated - 2 starsDare you go underground?

I normally begin my reviews with the words 'without spoiling the plot', but in the case of The Underground Comedy Movie there is no plot to spoil. This isn't a film with a narrative, good guy, bad guy, subplots etc, but 90 minutes of unrelated comedy sketches, very much along the lines of Kentucky Fried Movie, but a lot ruder.

The humour is satirical and off beat and if you're willing to persevere with the slow start, then there are some real laugh out loud funny moments to be had. Unfortunately, the quality of the sketches isn't at all consistent, a side splittingly funny gag will often be followed by a few that couldn't raise a smile, never mind a laugh. It's a shame, because if the quality of the gags had been better refined I really get the feeling this could have been a cult classic, as it stands what we have here is a curious little oddity. A word of warning, some of the sketches are a little on the adult side, so if you're faint hearted this isn't the film for you. On the other hand, if you're fan of offbeat, satirical humour, can take a strong joke and aren't expecting to watch a classic, then I'd say The Underground Comedy Movie is worth a rent.

Probably one of the worst films I have ever seen. The only good bit is when the two supermodels are having a pony.

Rated - 3 starsNOT "Kentucky Fried Movie"

It is what it says "underground" and it boldly states that it will offend EVERYBODY, it may well do that but if you have a sense of the ridiculous and like "Kentucky Fried Movie", rarely seen these days...then this is for you.

Not to be compared with the hilarious well made "Airplane" series or "Naked Gun" series, they were direct pastiche of recognised and well tried genre. This film is more akin to "Kentucky Fried” and maybe a rip-off on the aforementioned, but it is well worth a look as the team has made a good effort.
