Brief synopsis of The Warriors

New York, 1979. A battle on the streets. The armies of the night number 60,000 strong, and tonight they're all after The Warriors - a street gang wrongly accused of killing a rival gang leader. The Warriors must make their way from one end of New York to their turf on the other side of the city. All that stands between The Warriors and their survival are 20 miles and thousands of street gang members. The army of gangs owns the streets and there's no turning back as they must fight for their lives and learn the meaning of loyalty as danger and uncertainty emerge from the city night.

Rated - 4 starsLike the film? Love the game.

Ok it's all been done before and in terms of innovation there is little here that hasn't been done already. However this game does do it very well. Essentially a third person beat em up, with team additions. You play as one of The Warriors, a gang in 70's New York, who love to bop with other gangs and cause all sorts of mayhem in the war for more turf. Usually you are not alone and have basic control over some other gang members through the simple warboss command system. Violence, bad language throughout, criminal activities, moral deprevation are all checked, this is not one for the easily offended. Unusual for Rockstar? :-) The missions vary from helping bums get food, spraying your tags over other gangs turf, initiations of new gang members to defending your turf from rival gangs. It isnt the prettiest of games around, but i feel that was a conscious decision to help the gameplay. Having seen and loved the film a loooong time ago i was very curious about this game. It saves the actual film plot for the final levels and instead focuses on the backstory of The Warriors for the majority of the game. A good decision in my eyes. It was an interesting experience to learn more about the various gangs. A fun game if you haven't seen the film, a brilliant one if you have and liked it. Well worth the look.

Rated - 4 starsVery enjoyable but can become the same old stuff.

I thought this game was really enjoyable but it does become punching and kicking all the time and does become a bit boring. I think there is around 20 chapters in the game, and around the 15th I started getting bored with the game. The storyline in the middle aswell seemed irrelevant and at the end, it seems to add gangs in that havent featured in the whole game. Overall though, the game is enjoyable and I spent a good 20ish hours on it.

Rated - 4 starsThe Warriors!

I had not really heard about this particular game but when I found out that Rockstar were behind it I wanted to give it a try. The game I found was great fun and hugely entertaining. The actual game does not take after the film until the later stages of the game but this is not a concern as the earlier missions are actually just as good if not better. The only downside to this game is that the fighting can become quite had to control when masses of enemies appear on screen but this is only a minor criticism for a hugely enjoyable game. Well Done Rockstar on another good addition.
