Brief synopsis of The Warriors

The 1979 cult film the Warriors told the story of the eponymous gang from Coney Island, New York City. At a meeting of gangs from all five boroughs, Cyrus, a gangland kingpin, announces his plan to unite all the gangs into a supergang. He points out that the combined members of all the gangs present number 16,000 only a few less than the total number of police in NYC Can you dig it?. But before his well received dream can become a reality, he is shot, and The Warriors, though it was not them, are blamed. This is the premise that sets up the film, as the Warriors try to escape back to their home with all the other gangs of New York baying for their blood.

You might have noticed that the people at Rockstar like nothing better than a bit of violence, so it is not surprising that theyve chosen to make a pretty violent film into a game. The game is an ultra faithful adaptation of the film, and sees you and your gang fleeing across the Big Apple from the scene of the murder at Van Cortlandt Park back to Cony Island. The only problem is, you have to cross a lot of other peoples turf to get their.

Its basically a non stop brawl, and theres plenty of thumping punches and back breaking bear hug moves. Its as sure to delight fans of Rockstars work as it is to dismay the detractors of their slightly one track violent formula. But if youre a fan of the film and you play videogames, then youre pretty likely to want to buy this.

Rated - 2 starsYou will need to be a warrior to finish this!

malraff from cookstown , 25/05/2006

The warriors on initial play is a very enjoyable game with the usual rockstar charms.

The first half hour of the game will see you join a gang, beat up a few homeless guys, tag buildings with the warrior sign, steal car stereo's and mug people and all this coupled with some very amusing dialogue you will be thinking whoa! this is getting good!

But once the street riots and large on screen brawls begin this game just starts to get on your nerve's, the combat is just way to clumsy with a very annoying lock on which is useless. Then my next big fault with the game is the darkness! this was ok with games like manhunt, were stealth was essential but here your eyes will bleed trying to play this! maybe it's to cover up the substandard graphics. Finally, i didnt finish this game, as i got so bored playing the same generic levels over and over and really the only way i can recomend this game is for a weekends rental, believe me this is long enough to see all this games charms!

Rated - 5 starsplay with a friend...

The best way to get the most out of this game is to play cooperatively with a friend. We had a blast playing this game, we couldn't put it down.

Ok it's not one of the best games out there but if your looking for a good two player game that has plenty of action then this would be a good choice. It is however quite viollent so might not be suitable for everyone but if picking up bricks, stones, baseball bats or anything else that will hurt when swung at someones face is your thing then this is the game for you.
