Brief synopsis of Kameo: Elements of Power

Its time for Rare to silence its critics. Since the British game studio, once comfortable in the pocket of Nintendo, was bought up by Microsoft for an exorbitant sum, many have wondered how such a large investment could ever be recouped. Throughout the whole life cycle, Rare managed only two games: the lamentable Grabbed by the Ghoulies and the admittedly rather better Conker Live and Reloaded, itself a rehash of an old N64 title.

Rare finally seem keen to please their Microsoft overlords though and that total is about to be equalled in the first week of the Xbox 360s release. One title is Perfect Dark Zero, and its so secret how long that has been in the making. The second is Kameo: Elements of Power.

Kameo is a fantasy action adventure played in the 3rd person. The elaborate storyline tells of a goodly Elven king who used an ancient magical technique to vanquish a rabble-rousing Troll leader. And though he succeeded, he also mysteriously disappeared. Years pass and the Elves enjoy their hard-won peace, while the widowed Elf queen rules in the kings stead. She has two daughters who can succeed her: Kalus, the eldest and a nasty bit of work, and the angelic but junior Kameo. So its just as well that tradition allows either one to accede to the throne. Kameo ends up being able to harness the artefact last used by the king, the Elements of Power.

What you need to know is that you are able to control 10 different elements, a rag-tag bunch of plants, rocks and flaming creatures with different abilities. Choose the services of appropriate elements as you go about bashing big nasty green trolls, and trying to save the kingdom once again. Fast paced and tons of fun, Kameo may have an all new load of characters but their design is pure Rare. A return to form? Long may it continue.

This game is not what it seems!

On first impressions, i wasn't even ready to rent this game out, till i decided 2 give it a try....

This game may look all cute and cuddly, but underneath it all lies a really clever and entertaining adventure game. you control a fairy called kameo who has to rescue her family from evil trolls, and she uses powers which enable her to morph into creatues such as dragons, ivy plants, beasts, etc. All these creatures have certian abilities to get you through the levels. Level designs are top notch, and the characters are so vivid and memorable, i was left thinking about the game days after playing it, and its not often a game comes along and sucks you right in, it really is that good!

I really recommend this game to anyone who owns an xbox 360 and hasn't tried this yet, as you won't be dissapointed!

When the 360 came out and this was one of the launch titles that I did not bother with thinking that it was a kids game. Was I wrong this game is awesome and hard in places, Its got a tomb raider feel about it instead of puzzle solving you having to decide in who to use to get to places and who best to use to kill the bad guys

Despite it's 'kiddie' look, Kameo was very enjoyable. The game play was very good, and the story is very entertaining. Aside from the main quest, there are lots of things for you to do such as collecting all the fruit, getting all the alternative costumes and getting super high scores to get yourself a level rating.

Also, available for download on the Xbox Live Marketplace are more cosutme packs, as well as a cheeky little 'power pack' designed for the co-op mode.

So once you've played the game, get a friend, grab a controller and let the troll bashing begin.

Great fun, and one for the kids to enjoy too. (unless they prefer Viva Pinata?)

This game is just amzing, it has good graphics, a fun storyline, alright achievments, good gameplay and towards the younger age. i have 500g off it and that was easily accomplished - THIS GAME IS GREAT, ESPECIALLY FOR THE FIRST GAME OUT FOR THE 360.
