Brief synopsis of NBA Live 06

Its about this time of year that EA like to release all the sporting titles theyve been crafting during the off season. Both types of football Madden and FIFA have already hit the streets, as has their NHL game which looks as reinvigorated as the hockey league itself does after missing last season.

If youve been waiting patiently for the new NBA Live game, well...here it is, and as usual it comes with the usual perks of an up-to-date roster Basketball players in the US change teams like you change underpants as well as new features and tweaks. Its Heat star Dwyane D-Wade Wade thats on the cover this year. But hes not the only player to get special treatment. A whole selection of big players have been given Freestyle Superstar powers, excelling in certain areas depending on whether they are labelled High Flyer, Playmaker, Scorer, Sharpshooter, Stopper or Power Player. Get the ball to these talented specialists and use their special skills to turn the game. EA boasts that the transitions are more realistic than ever before, with the game realistically switching between explosive runs down the lanes as you get on point and deliver zinging passes, and realistic defence as you block would-be dunkers with big hits.

As in this years Madden, you can create your own player and watch him grow from Rookie to super-powered Superstar in Dynasty mode, as you make the right career choices along the way. A big feature of EAs basketball games these days is the dunk contest, and this gets even better this year as you can take the game online and show off your airborne skills. Naturally, you can take other players on in online Exhibition matches too, or maybe just indulge in a three point shootout. With the graphical engine also fully overhauled, the players look better than ever before and more like their real-life counterparts. Another dose of fun for the franchises loyal following of fans.

Rated - 2 starsNba Live Review

A customer from England , 05/04/2006

To be honest Nba live is a little dissapointing. Gameplay is fairly limited and you can easily get all the achievements within a few hours play, however the in game players and coaches do look very good and the graphics are ocassionally impressive, unfortunately gameplay becomes tiresome.

Rated - 1 star960 easy points.. worth it or not?

A customer from Droitwich , 22/12/2007

Well.. I rented this for easy gamerscore, and thats just what it is.

First of all I'd like to say you can no longer get the full 1000 points on this game, just 960. You can't get the last 40 points because you need an online win, and EA have shut down the live 06 servers, so you cannot play online.

The graphics are ok, however the gameplay simply sucks. Stupid camera angle(you can change it though), and the computer AI is really stupid.

Luckily, you only actually need to play 4 games to get all the achievements(rookie win, starter win, all star win, superstar win). Over half of the gamerpoints can be unlocked by going to season mode, at the end of april and simulating up to that date, so all the games are played automaticly.

So if your up for 960 easy gamerpoints, but a painful boring experience, then here you are.

Rated - 5 starsEasiest 960GS

A customer from Blackburn, England , 08/01/2009

Fantastic for Gamerscore, only played 4 games, switched the slider in my favour, 4 easy wins. The rest of the achievements can just be simulated, easy enough. Got 960GS in less than a day. Wouldn't recommend this game over newer releases.

Rated - 2 starspoor excuse for a game

A customer from leicester , 13/08/2007

The only reason this is not a one star is because i save the one star ratings for games as bad as vampire rain. Its reasonable easy even though you dont feel in control most the time. The computer does not challenge you untill the last 30 seconds of a match then it starts fowling and doing time outs for no sensible reason. Its called nba live but you have very little chance of playing live as nobody seems to think its worth the effort.
