Brief synopsis of Ridge Racer 6

A true next-generation video game experience, Ridge Racer 6 lets players race across stunning high-definition locales through an in-depth single player World Xplorer mode and compete online for the first time in the history of the Ridge Racer series.

Ridge Racer 6 takes advantage of the 360's power to deliver an intense and immersive drift racing experience yet, with an unprecedented sense of speed, slick graphics and more than 130 cars which let players enjoy every hairpin drift and high-speed straightaway like never before. Players can compete in the game's World Xplorer mode, entering races to unlock new cars, prizes, and brand new routes. By performing successful high-speed drifts, players will fill up their Nitrous Gauge to unleash a powerful burst of speed to pass opponents and secure victory. Ridge Racer 6 evolves the nitrous system even further, allowing players to build up their Nitrous Gauge for even more explosive double and triple boosts of speed resulting in more exhilaration and enjoyment in negotiating courses.

For the first time in the history of the series, Ridge Racer 6 lets players drift online against up to 14 gearheads from around the world on Xbox Live. Players can choose to compete in a number of different online modes including Online Battle Mode or view live online races from the sidelines in Spectator Mode. For ultimate bragging rights, the best times for individual courses achieved in Global Time Attack Mode can be uploaded to Xbox Live, where ghost car data can also be downloaded to provide world class challenges for Ridge Racer fans.

Its got that good old ridge racer feel to it, which is not my cup of tea, but its a good game to have a bash at, the graphics are great, and there are loads and loads of things to do...great game, worth a rental but not a buy, wait for the later next gen racers coming your way such as test drive unlimited

Rated - 1 starNo better than a ps1 game with fancy graphics

A customer from Kent , 24/07/2006

Not only is the commentator highly annoying to the point where your ears bleed the game itself its just appalling. Its dosn't even have an arcade feel to it. If this game was in the bargin bin at £9.99, i still wouldn't buy it. If you crash into a wall it dosn't scrape it unrealisticly starts juddering!

Rated - 4 starsNot As Good. But...

Graham King from Brighton, England , 19/10/2006

For the people who are saying that this game is 'Not As Good' As PGR I Totally agree with you. But, it's not that far behind! I am loving the layout of the game, so simple to get your head around, UNLIKE PGR, It took me about 2 hours to figure out where the 'Online Play' is..:P... And the startup on this game.. Pacman, my all time favorite arcade game, thats what helps it on its way to four stars for me. Oh, and one other thing, when your racing in game, and you hear the voices. 'Your in 1st place!', 'Hes gaining on you' Ect... thats also what does it for me. It remind me of a game in a arcade room, with a steering wheel ect.. the graphics remind me of that. Anyway, overall I am going to rate this game at four stars.:)

I have to say for the first 5 mins I thought this would be a good game. Beautiful to look at with an excellent soundtrack but alas it's all too easy. The world explorer may be large with an almost unbelievable amount of races to get through but its all rather tedious. I came first in pretty much all my races no real challenge I'm afraid, to say this is a fast game is a lot of tosh ( I never used the brakes once!!!) The drifting can be mastered after one race and its all pretty much the same. You want speed wipeout 2097 wipes the floor with this and that is about 10 years old on the playstation 1 for crying out loud. i just found it monotonous and boring.

Rated - 3 starsStylish but no depth

superjim superjim from Durham, UK [Highly rated reviewer] , 12/07/2008

Not a bad game, very stylish and looks beautiful.

It's main fault is its lack of depth- just like all the previous Ridge Racer games.

I rented PGR4 at the same time as RR6 and totally recommend PGR4 instead. RR6 is cool for a few hours of mucking about.
