Brief synopsis of Inside Man

Inside Man is the story of a tough cop, Detective Frazier (Denzel Washington), who matches wits with a clever bank robber, Dalton (Clive Owen), in a tense hostage drama. As the dangerous cat-and-mouse game unfolds, a wild card emerges: Madaline (Jodie Foster), a power broker with a hidden agenda, who injects even more instability into an already volatile situation.

This movie is about a bank robbery and what happens within the bank and with the cops outside. Don't go into this movie expecting miracles, its not fantastic. The acting is good, but to be honest it doesn't make much sense really. I wouldn't buy this movie, or watch again, but that is only my opinion.

My initial scepticism about seeing a Spike Lee film (given his last few efforts have been below par) soon disappeared, in fact, 10 mins into the film i was hooked. I am one of those annoying people who likes to try and guess plots and twists, but it had me guessing pretty much till the end. This is a film about a bank robbery, a conspiracy and a dark secret, and it even has a few laughs in it as well. Denzel is starting to look old, so the hot young girlfriend is a bit of a stretch(!), but he plays a good part. See this film, and tell me if you guessed what was going on...

3 great performances by Owen, Foster and Washington, if you take them seperately.

Something just doesn't sit right though the flow of the film is just that little bit off. Its worth watching however you might be a little disappointed.

This was a great film, it kept you guessing how the plot line was going to develop. With an interesting twist towards the end.

There's no doubting that Denzel Washington is a cracking actor with a massive screen presence. Director Spike Lee knows this all to well and was wise to cast him as his lead in this involving, yet somewhat disappointing, heist movie. It's a polished film. The acting is immaculate from all involved and the films pace is adequate. This is well worth a watch, though I would advise that you disregard any high expectations you have for this film otherwise your disappointment will only be heightened. The problem with Inside Man is that it feels to audience friendly. It's a walk in the park for the actors and director and really doesn't test the viewer's intelligence as much as it should have. Come the end, there's little in the way of suprise and you'll feel as if you've watched a feel-good heist movie instead of something more raw. Enjoyable yet unsatisfactory.
