Brief synopsis of Outrun 2006: Coast 2 Coast

Ah, the mighty OutRun returns. The daddy of all arcade racers. Sega's OutRun 2006: Coast 2 Coast has all the features that fans love and loads of new ones. The Ferrari license brings a 12-car line-up to the game, so you'll soon be drifting a range of extremely expensive red Ferraris around the many bends of this arcade dreamworld, whilst attempting to win the heart of your baby beside you at the wheel. Cars featured include the all-new F430 and the dazzling Superamerica. Feel the throaty whine and that distinctive Ferrari exhaust tone as you power and drift your way across 30 glorious stages. Stages featured in the game are from the best of the OutRun2 original, and also from the new OutRun2 SP arcade experience. The game also has a fresh new mission structure, a license mode and online play with up to six players. Ferraris, beautiful girls, sublime scenery from the sun-drenched sands of Palm Beach to the charms of Cape Way ? what more could you possibly want? The game has that 'just-one-more-go' factor which has always been a characteristic of the OutRun series. The opportunity to unlock new tracks, cars and much more only adds to the sublime playability of OutRun 2006: Coast 2 Coast. UK developers Sumo Digital Ltd, should be applauded for really developing the series in some great new ways, whilst retaining the key playability of perhaps the greatest of arcade driving games.

Rated - 2 starsA very average racing game compared to others

I can remember how exciting it was to play Outrun when it first was out in the arcade a long time back...great music and fun traveling down the road. Racing games have evolved much since then, and Outrun has not made much of a progression from the original. If you want a great racing game, try one of these titles: Burnout Legends or Ridge Racer. In a nutshell, they have so much more to offer.

Rated - 3 starsWorth buying, if only for the soundtrack!

It's worth buying Outrun Coast to Coast just for the great music!

Fortunately racing Games have come a long way since Outrun was a favourite in every video arcade. This game will bring back those memories, and while it is a great fun game for a while, it lacks realism & has a limited appeal.

Rated - 4 starsBetter than expected.

I was a huge fan of the original Outrun 2 on the Xbox, but had to give that game up when I sold the console and found it wasn't compatible on the 360. (Jip!) I thought this would be a bit of a laugh on PSP but it turned out to be brilliant, just how powerful is this machine? Aside from the occasional slowdown (it really doesn't damage the game) it has everything the Xbox version had and a hell of a lot more. Graphics are not quite as sharp obviously, but the sound, gameplay and most important, control are all top drawer.

Fantastic game, beautiful graphics and great game play, also the constant multiplayer login is a lovely idea you can make online friends and when they are online you can text them for a race! A great credit to outrun! One of the best psp games out at the moment!

Rated - 2 starsthose were the days, or were they ?

I remeber the first arcade game of outrun, and subsequent versions. Pretty much all of them are superior to this. Just 3 races in I was bored, its almost impossible to do anything other than race down the 'tram lines'. Not awesome. I have given it 2 stars simply for nostalgia value and the smooth way it runs on the PSP, not for the gameplay.

As other have said, racing games have come a long way since Outrun was a favourite. they should retire this franchise now or find something more interesting to do with the race itself.
