Brief synopsis of Highlander 2

In this labyrinthine sequel, the Immortal MacLeod saves the people of Earth from immanent ozone layer-related destruction by building a shield that deflects sunlight. But the people of Earth aren't especially grateful, as the constant state of night has made them cranky and prone to criminal sprees. Moreover, bounty hunters from the Immortals' home planet, Zeist, have given chase, and it could mean curtains for us all unless MacLeod and an ecologist can liberate the Earth and banish the assassins. Available in Original, Director's Cut, and Renegade Versions (3 different running times.)

Rated - 1 starsPossibly the worst sequel ever...

A customer from Nottingham, UK , 08/11/2004

Highlander 2 has the potential of being the worst sequel ever made due to the fact the the original Highlander was such a fabulous movie.

After pretending like the first movie never happened, the story revolves around Connor McCloud being involved in the repair ozone layer! C'mon ... how ridiculous.

If it wasn't for the fact that the same guy who made this directed the first film, I'm sure he would be a taxi driver today... and I know that studios get involved and usually mess around and make great films just sometimes seem good, but there was nothing remotely good about this when it was just on paper surely, what a mess.

Steer well clear of this turkey.

Rated - 5 starsThere should have been only one.

As sean Connery said in the first film 'There can be only one'. I wish they had listened to him.

Rated - 1 starshow to ruin the memory

A customer from Kent , 17/12/2004

The first highlander film was brilliant, but the memory was ruined by this appalling sequel. Highlander is definitely one of those films that should have been left as it was without any sequels. Even the return of Sean Connery in this film did nothing to lift it up.

Not really worth watching

Rated - 1 starsThis film is so bad!!!!!!!!!!

If you are reading this before uou watch it - seriously get something else, even highlander 3, which isnt much better.

There is so much wrong with this film ,especially the bad guy, he's played by that guy from Total Recall who gets his arms chopped off by the elevator, and he's such a bad actor. The plot is just so full of holes i'm not even gonna begin... Sean Connery must seriously have been needing money to come back for this sequel... his part has no point in the film at all other than to allow his name to be on the front cover! Curse the scriptwriter for taking what is a coolish concept and making it dire filth.

Rated - 2 starsdissapointing

Philip McAllister from Manchester , 13/12/2007

I sincerely hope Sean Connery got paid alot of money for this terrible sequel, for that is all he will receive. A flimsy plot and rubbish action scences make this film hard to watch till the end (which unfortunately I did).

The plot, such as it is, involves Chritopher Lambert, aka Connor McCloud, being brought back from old age by his old enemy, a baddy general from another planet, sending 'immortal' soldiers to kill him. Why?- we don't know, this wasn't explained.

Apparantly, Mccloud and the character played by Connery, along with others, were resistance leaders on this other planet, 500 years ago, and were captured and banished to earth by the baddy general, thus making them immortal until only one remained.

Why he didn't just kill them then was also a mystery. But not nearly as much of a mystery as to how none of this was mentioned in the first film!! Apart from the main characters having the same name, you would almost not know this was a sequel. Such a shame as the first film is a great romp, and very entertaining.
