Rated - 5 starsAs important to this decade as Mario was in the 80's

I've found a place to stop. Somehow I've managed to prise myself away from Oblivion. During this break, I'll stock up on easy to open snacks, coffee's and cold drinks - not to mention the much needed run to the bathroom.

Yes, Oblivion is everything you've heard. Its inner joy proceeds much further than the interviews, screen grabs and videos you've seen. To some, it's snuck up and smacked them in the face. How can you have not seen a game of this magnitute arriving?

Elder Scrolls is regarded as a highly reliable game series. The previous installment, Morrowind, was noted as one of the finest RPGs ever - boasting of 200 hours of gameplay and a world where you could do anything you wanted. Well, if that sounded good to you, I wonder how you'll feel to know that Oblivion has well over 1800 hours of gameplay, over 15 square miles of treadable land, and 1000's of interacting, killable, stealable, social, well voiced NPC's.

My character has evolved to the state where my own experience reads like a synopsis for a story of its own.

'I woke from the misty cell of my imprisonment, not knowing how I managed to get there. My life previous is unobtainable from my memory - but I know I am a nobel Nord. What began as an honourable due of protecting Emperor Uriel Septim and his long lost heir has now changed. I awoke from a bed in the Imperial City to discover bloody marks upon my neck. I shyed from the light and citizens of Tamriel. Eventually, my skin paled and people noticed. I ignored my duty to serve the heir, in search of my cure. That is when I stole my first horse.

My life slowly drained during the hours of the sun. But it was not until dark; in the confines of a friendly inn, that I decided to pick the lock of the room next to mine and fed upon the girl that slept - waking her in the process. With blade drawn, I cut her down to quiet the screams.

From a nightmare, I woke to find a hooded man before me. He knew I killed that night. And from there, he welcomed me to join the Dark Brotherhood.

The only catch was, I had to slay in cold blood again...'

There is so much to talk about with Oblivion, that it's almost impossible to know where to start and which issue to talk about first.

All I can say is, is if you've read this far into my babbling and wish to hear more, then Oblivion is definitely worth the purchase and not just a rental.

After playing this game, Oblivion makes all other games pale and feel embarrassed in comparison. This is how gaming should be done, and this is spoken from someone who never played Morrowind and never took notice of Oblivion until I watched highlights of a 12 hour marathon on Gamespot.

Rated - 5 starsLive another world

Paladin Paladin from Hayes , 02/08/2006

I was playing this game for 120 hours now and still enjoy it. It's absolutely different game than others. You actually live the story. It is character diversity and huge world with awful lot of side quests and fraction quests that will keep you playing. You can be mage, warrior, bowman, or mix it all if you want. Every character can be succesful, every combination. You can solve quests quietly, almost invisible or just rush into action. Yet after playing so long I still discover new things to do, new places to go. It's truly masterpiece.

This game is excellent to start off with but the story line becomes repetitive and boring.

The thing that makes ths game so good is th side stories and levels.

This game looks fantastic in HD and is one of the best RPG on the 360

Not at all what I was expecting... Tried playing it for about half an hour to give it a chance, but that was actually 29 minutes too long... Just not my type of game...
