Brief synopsis of Stargate Atlantis - Season 2 - Vol. 3

A team of scientists and military personnel is dispatched to the distant Pegasus galaxy to explore the remnants of the Lost City of the Ancients, also known as Atlantis in this STARGATE SG-1 spin-off series. The Ancients were an advanced human race that initially created the Stargate network, and diplomat Dr. Elizabeth Weir (Torri Higginson) and pilot Major John Sheppherd (Joe Flanigan) head the international squad that is sent to investigate. The team arrives at Atlantis to find the city abandoned and their ship permanently stranded, unless they can find a power source to get themselves home to earth. They make contact with a brave but primitive native civilisation as well as with the evil Wraith, a species that feeds on fear and, it quickly becomes clear, poses a threat to human life everywhere. Sheppard's brash, instinctive nature contrasts with the calm thoughtfulness of Dr. Weir, and their team is rounded out by Sheppard's second-in-command Lt. Aidan Ford, witty Scottish doctor Carson Beckett, Pegasus native leader Teyla Emmagen, and inimitable scientist Rodney McKay.

Yes the first series of stargate Atlantis could be described as a bit 'clunky'; but with this series they're firing on all stargate cylinders again! The inter hive conflict hinted at sets up the series nicely for the final volumes. We finally find out what happened to Lt 'I'm not a bad man' Ford, and there's some nicely written character episodes.Plus the loathsome Arretris bug pops up briefly. All in all the stargate franchise just goes from strength to strength!. Watch it!

Stargate Atlantis is fantastic, I though Stargate SG1 were good but Stargate Atlantis is fantastic! You will be glued to your chair and watch the whole disk in one sitting and then be wanting the next! The characters are great, the stories are great, i'm addicted to Stargate Atlantis!

The two parter 'The Lost Boys/The Hive' was a great story. Lots of interesting action, and humour. The main characters and the supporting team all got some great scenes. The Wraith continue to evolve into more interesting villians, and even though the conclusion was a bit too happy considering all that had passed, it was still enjoyable.

As always the other episodes of the disks were seen before Sci-fi cliche. I wish the show would focus on the Atlantis Vs. Wraith war, and not waste their time with standard Sci-fi conventions. Sheppard in a VR world, Sheppard in an other demension. How many more is there for them to do before they run out of ideas. SG1 has already done very similar stories, and because I'd seen them all before on Star Trek I gave in on that show. Atlantis still show's promise, and if they can produce more episodes like 'Lost Boys' and 'The Hive' and less like 'Aurara' and 'Epiphany' it could be a great series.
