Rated - 1 starsSick gorefest

A customer from West Mids , 12/03/2006

I just saw this in the cinema, and I am disturbed by the efforts directors will go to shock people. This is a very sick movie, and I am not shocked easily.

Horror films are not scary anymore... they have become gory, and violent to an extent that the next film has to be even worse than the last.

Whatever happened to films like The Shining, or Carrie. Sure, they had violent and gory moments but they also played on your mind and made you think.

Feeling sick and shaking your head in total disbelief is not entertainment.

Rated - 1 starsFormulaeic Bloodfest

After the first few minutes, I fast forwarded through this film and, as I suspected it had all the ingredients from the classic films such as Deliverance and the first Halloween film. They did it first and did it better:

Unfriendly, hostile local people in remote area with a grudge against slick city incomers, nubile/handsome character..... blood, slash, murder suspense, murder sex, murder survival/shooting, spurt spurt, suspenseful music...that's about it I think.....enjoy

Rated - 5 starsYOU WANT SHOCK THEN COME AND GET IT

A customer from manchester , 08/05/2006

Isn't the whole point of watching a horro movie, to be..well.. shocked? Forget the negative poncy reviews. If you like horror, edge of your seat tension, gore and a plausible scary story then you have it all here. I loved the original back in 1978 (one of my top 5 all time films) and the remake is superb. If you can't stand the heat get out of the kitchen, for die hard, horror and thrill fans only - it delivers, big time!!

Rated - 4 starsCan you hand me a twinkie?

The Hills Have Eyes starts off with a family going on vacation. A dubious petrol station attendant gives them directions of a short cut he knows that'll cut the trip in half. This is where it all goes wrong. Soon after this, the carnage starts.

Once it does, it doesn’t let up for the duration. The original confrontation between 'good' and 'evil' is so intense I don't know if I even took a breath. The plot, is very typical of this genre, but what make this such a good film is the shockingly extreme violence and gore. This movie is savage, brutal, but also very moving. This is due to an excellent cast, magnificent special effects and creative directing.

I recommend this movie to those who aren't afraid of blood or mutants. This movie I guarantee will have you scared out of your wits.

The film for me was average, a little gory for me and very full on, but if you want horror and gore then this is it, i feel the gore side could have been tamed down a little.

So you have the basis of a horror thriller and it is just like every other average horror a little edgy but nothing to rave to your friends about.

Until you get to one scene a revolting scene which is sickening, watching rape then sexual abuse does not equal entertainment to me. It's just horrific and sickening. It isn't thrilling or makes you wish to watch more it's disturbing and perverted. For the sake of adding such a pointless disgusting scene an average possibly enjoyable wat you expect horror remake becomes something that is for sicko's! Don't bother watching there are many other films of this nature out there which don't make you feel like a pervert after.
