Ys: The Ark of Napishtim is the sixth instalment in the Ys series. This particular instalment was originally released on the PS2 in 2005, but now finds itself ported to the PSP with exclusive content, such as mini-games, a media player and a character database.

You play the role of a fiery red-headed hero called Adol Christin, who finds himself fleeing from the Roman army, eventually deciding to escape by sea. The ship Adol escapes in gets swept into the great vortex of Canaan, where our hero embarks on a great adventure, exploring various hidden islands. Adol is equipped with three magical swords that have elemental powers - fire, water and wind, in his quest to uncover the secrets that lie in Canaan's mysterious whirlpools. Adol will face many different enemies throughout the game and partake in strategic boss battles using numerous sword combinations, magical spells and special attacks.

As players advance through the game using an improved map system, they will unlock various pieces of artwork and computer generated movies that depict the legacy of the Ys series.
